Logging and logging

Clearing the brush led to logging the trees.  Most of them were Doug firs, but we had the occasional cedar and madrone in there too.

This one was a tricky madrone limb.  It all went perfectly though.

Of course it landed right there, haha.

We counted the rings to get the age of each Doug Fir that we cut down.  Most of them were 70-90 years old, consistent with the history that we know about the island-- most of the trees in this area were clear-cut in the 1930s.
